Louis Widmer Stretch Marks Prevention Cream

REVIEW

If you’re pregnant you’re probably wondering if you’ll get stretch marks whether it matters to you or not. Even if you’re not worried about getting some extra tiger stripes, like I wasn’t, you still might be on the lookout for a good stretch marks prevention cream just to help your skin out a bit. In this post, I will be reviewing the one I’ve used throughout my entire pregnancy, which is the Louis Widmer Stretch Marks Prevention Cream.

stretch marks cream review

Let me start by saying two things. First of all, genetics play a vital role in whether you get stretch marks or not and so does your pregnancy journey, which isn’t the same for everyone. Second of all, please don’t obsess over it and don’t worry about it too much. Your body is carrying your baby! That’s such a blessing and I strongly encourage you to embrace all that comes with it and to celebrate your body throughout the journey.

With that being said, you can nonetheless assist your skin and encourage the prevention of stretch marks or at least try to make them less severe.

Make sure to have a nutrient-rich diet, stay hydrated, keep a healthy weight for your pregnancy, exfoliate, and yes- moisturize your skin.

I’ve used Louis Widmer MamaDerm Stretch Marks Prevention Cream throughout my entire pregnancy, and so I’ll share my opinion about that particular cream in this post, focusing on the application, and feeling on the skin, and of course its effectiveness.

Louis Widmer SA has been on the market for over 60 years. Their products are manufactured in Switzerland “according to the guidelines for pharmaceutical products and are subject to the most stringent quality standards and controls” [source]

Application & Feeling On The Skin

On the packaging, it’s suggested to apply it twice a day starting from the third month of pregnancy until 3 months after giving birth. Which ups, I just realized maybe I should have read before and kept using it postpartum. Anyway… I did use it at least once a day and applied it in a circular motion onto the skin of my belly. I did not use it on my breasts, butt, or thighs.

The cream wasn’t that easiest to spread, it’s quite thick yet feels light, and so the application was still enjoyable. It definitely feels very moisturizing and it leaves a light film on your skin sealing in the moisture. I must say I did like that effect. If I wanted a basic, fast-absorbing cream there are plenty of cheaper, good lotions out there I could have used instead. Moreover, the film it leaves doesn’t feel heavy or too sticky. However, I did use it mostly in the evenings, that’s probably also why it didn’t bother me.

Rating from 1-3 with 1 being the least, 3 being the most…:

Moisturizing? ✓✓✓
Fast-absorbing? ✓
Easy to spread? ✓✓

Sticky? ✓✓
Feels heavy? ✓
Any redness or other unwanted skin reactions? NO

Effectiveness

So did I get stretch marks or not? Does it work or not? The short answer is yes, it seems to have worked in my case, as I didn’t get stretch marks.

On my belly, which is the part of my body that of course stretched the most and the only area where I applied the cream I DID NOT get any stretch marks! Whereas on other areas of my body, where I did not apply this cream, I did get some stretch marks. And yes, I do wonder if it would be the same had I applied the cream everywhere. Like I’ve said before, so many things contribute to whether you get stretch marks or not, we’re all different and what works for one person might not for another.

If you’re looking for a decent stretch marks prevention cream that keeps your skin soft, deeply moisturized, and itch-free, I can definitely recommend trying out the Louis Widmer Stretch Marks Prevention Cream. If I’ll get pregnant again in the future, I’ll definitely use that cream again. However, if you want a product that is really fast-absorbing and super light, this one is not for you.

Do I recommend it? YES
Would I use it again?
ABSOLUTELY
Is it a miraculous product that will guarantee stretch marks-free skin? Very unlikely

Mama, stretch marks or not,
you are strong and you are beautiful!!
