Solo Picnic

Can you have a picnic alone?

Absolutely!! I know you might be associating picnics with larger groups, whether it’s your family or friends, or a romantic picnic date night with your significate other. However, you can totally go on a solo picnic!

Why should you go on a solo picnic?

  • SELF-CARE
Going on a picnic alone can be a great form of self-care, taking me time. It’s so important for your well-being to just take a step back every now and then and take yourself out on a date. Spending alone time can be very beneficial to your mental well-being and overall clarity in life.
  • RELAX
Besides packing up a few things for your solo picnic experience there’s nothing else you needs to do or worry about. You can simply enjoy the quiet, the food, nature. Going on a picnic can be very relaxing.
  • NATURE
For the ultimate picnic experience choose a quiet, beautiful spot in nature, preferably with a great view. Actually sitting down on the groud, walking barefeed on grass can be extremely grouding. Laying down on your picnic blanket, breathing in fresh air, enjoying the weather will do miracles for your mind and soul.
  • FRESH AIR
Simply being outdoor and breahing in the fresh air will make your meal so much more enjoyable. Not always sitting in an office or at a dinner table.
  • BREAK THE ROUTINE
Habits are great, routines are necessary for us to funcion properly. Having a well-balanced diet and listening to our bodies is crucial for our optimal perfomance and happiness. That doesn’t mean though that you have to always sit at the dinner table to do so. Switching things up, breaking your routine every now and then can be a fantastic experience.
  • MAKE EATING A CELEBRATION
Because going on a picnic isn’t something you do daily, it will certainly feel special. We should be so grateful for the water and food we have. Since the actual puprose on a picnic is eating (outdoors), it’s a great way to be extra appiciative of the food. It’s a great way to make eating a celebration. Prepare or buy something you absolutely love to eat and then enjoy every bite in the beautiful scenery, without any distractions.
  • QUEIT YOUR MIND
Taking yourself out of your usual environment, breaking the routine like we’ve mentioned, being in nature, will definitely help you quiet your mind. Put your phone away, enjoy the food, the fresh breeze, your own company. Be mindful, be still.
  • SWEET ESCAPE
We all need a break sometimes. A break from our work, all the stress, even our kids and poopy diapers. However, we don’t always have the luxury to take a lot of time off, to go out for the whole night or take a solo weekend trip. But we most likely will find a way to at least go on a solo picnic, whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
A solo picnic can be your sweet escape, your way of recharging your battieries.
  • SELF-LOVE
What you doing by all that we’ve mentioned above is really just practicing self-love. And oh boy, don’t we all need some of that!
  • ROMANTICIZE THE LITTLE THINGS
Life is all about the little moments, the little things. Going on a solo picnic can be more special, and memorable than a big trip or fancy event would be. Be present, celebrate good weather, celebrate food, celebrate nature, and celebrate yourself.

Where can you go on a picnic-for-one?

When it comes to the location a solo picnic is no different from a regular picnic. Maybe with the exception that you have even more options as you don’t need to fit a lot of people.

To make the most out of your picnic you should find a quiet spot in nature, preferably with a great view. It could be a garden, a park, the beach, somewhere by a river or a lake.

What to pack for a picnic-for-one?

  • First things first, food and drinks!

Make sure to prepare or buy some of your favorite foods to make the picnic experience a real celebration! Go for foods that can be easily transported and won’t get bad fast.

A great way to pack food for a picnic is to use jars, especially if you just need small portions, for one person. In that way, you can pack a variety of different meals. There are even special recipes for “jar meals/desserts”. Like this No-Bake Vegan Cheesecake Jar Recipe.
