How To Invest In Yourself As A Woman – 11 Ways

As women, we naturally invest in others. Often we put ourselves last, busy nourishing and supporting people around us. But what about you? Do you feel like you haven’t reached your potential in life yet? Do you want to truly get to know yourself, be your best self, and live an abundant life? If that’s the case it’s time to invest in yourself. We’ve already discussed why you should invest in yourself. Now it’s time to find out how you can best invest in yourself as a woman.

What does it mean to invest in yourself?

You’re worthy of investing in. The biggest and best investment you can make in life is in yourself. Your soul, your mind, and your body too.

Once you put money, time, and energy into yourself, you’ll see positive changes in all areas of your life, and you will be able to serve others even better as well. You deserve to challenge your circumstances and come out stronger and happier on the other side. Don’t ever stop learning, don’t ever give up hope, don’t ever neglect or doubt yourself.

Keep on moving, keep on learning, keep on exploring, keep on widening your horizon, keep on being of service and keep on investing in yourself.

Investopedia says “an investment requires putting capital to work, in the form of time, money, effort, etc. in hopes of a greater payoff in the future than what was originally put in.” Investing in yourself is a little different though because it’s guaranteed that it will pay off in the future.

The Cambridge dictionary states that investing in means “to put money, effort, time, etc. into something to make a profit or get an advantage”. So basically, the same thing, however they don’t mention the factor of hope, there seems to be more certainty.

Let’s look at some quotes about investing in yourself:

“The best gift you can give to yourself is to invest in yourself.” ― Pooja Agnihotri

“An investment in self-development pays the highest dividends.”― Debasish Mridha

“Believing and investing in yourself is the best way to shift your thinking from a paradigm of excuses to one of solutions.” ― Farshad Asl

“Every penny NOT spent on investing in yourself (after basic needs of course) may be a wasted future opportunity from missing learns and connects.” ― Richie Norton

“Invest time and energy in your well being. Create an atmosphere of emotional safety for yourself.” ― Amy Leigh Mercree

“Invest in yourself to get the best interest.” ― Debasish Mridha

“An investment in yourself will never lead to regret.” ― Germany Kent

11 Ways

#1 Start with your soul

You have to focus on your soul first. Finding ways to be still and find peace is crucial. If you’re a believer, focus on your relationship with God first.

The joy, the peace, the purpose, the confidence, etc. that are rooted in your soul will always be stronger than anything around you. There’s endless potential, love, creativity found inside of you. Investing time in your “soul time” will influence your mind and your body.

Both will benefit from your healthy, peaceful, strong “relationship” with the deepest parts of you. And it doesn’t matter what you do or don’t believe in at this moment.

When you seek truth, love, peace, you’ll find it and no one, not me, not anyone else will have to tell you what to believe in or what to do. So invest in your soul first.

#2 Focus on your mental and physical health

Invest money, time, and energy into your health, starting with your mental well-being.

The mind’s health is connected to the body’s health. Moreover, what good is a healthy body if the mind suffers, is full of anxiety, doubt, keeps us from moving our body, and living out our dreams?

Find a mentor, a therapist, or at least journal. Don’t keep all your thoughts inside of you. Get rid of them, filter them.

Investing in therapy will really help you improve your life, your relationships with a partner, a friend, a family member, and most with yourself.

Move your body, nourish it and take good care of it in general. It is the vehicle that moves you through life, the only one you’ll get.
Treat it with respect and pamper yourself. It’s okay to invest in your appearance.

Do what makes you feel the healthiest and most beautiful self. You’re already good enough the way you are, however, there’s nothing wrong with investing some time and energy into the right skincare, braces, or a new haircut. That shouldn’t be your source of confidence or happiness, however, it will boost them for sure and that’s okay.

If you feel like you need to change because you don’t feel good enough, then you should go back to point number 1 and work on your soul first.

Don’t approach life from a point of lack, but rather be grateful for the way things are at the same time acknowledging your potential and the possibilities that life has to offer.

#3 Pamper yourself

Taking time for self-care is crucial.

We’ve already talked about the importance of your mental and physical health as well as investing in your appearance. Feeling put together, especially as a woman, will boost your self-esteem and can definitely make you feel more feminine.

Pampering yourself however goes far beyond maintaining your appearance, getting your nails done, or getting a facial. It can mean getting a massage, taking a bubble bath, getting yourself a treat, spending a cozy evening on the couch with hot cocoa and a book. It simply means doing something for you that you don’t allow yourself to do daily. It’s a special me-time that you truly deserve.

#4 Take yourself out on a date

Everyone should spend some time alone. Not just be alone at home but actually going out solo. Yes, it’s part of how to invest in yourself as a woman.

Whether it is going to the movies, an event or simply having dinner at a restaurant. It can feel a little intimidating at first, however, you’ll feel wonderful and empowered afterward and might just discover how fun it actually is.

#5 Do the thing that you’ve been talking yourself out of

Many of us settle into a career or stick to hobbies that we got good at and feel confident and comfortable doing. Yet most of us have ideas in the back of our heads that we never went after. Whether it’s trying out roller skating or starting a podcast, give it a go! Just do it.

#6 Keep learning

keep learning

Invest in your education, whether it’s getting a formal degree, attending workshops, taking online courses, or simply reading a book. Invest time and money in your education. Keep on learning and expanding your knowledge.

You are always a student, never a master. You have to keep moving forward. – Conrad Hall

#7 Put effort into relationships

invest in relationships

Investing time in people you care about is so important and part of investing in yourself as a woman.

The older we get the more effort we need to put into keeping relationships alive. We start our own families or are focused on our careers and we assume that our friends and family will always be there and will be the ones always reaching out to us. Make sure you put in the effort to nurture your friendships and relationships with family members.

You can come up with small traditions that you’ll both commit to or you can agree to call each other every Sunday. However, you want to go about it, don’t just wait for people to come to you, put in the effort and check in on people around you.

#8 Take charge of your finances

Want to know how to invest in yourself as a woman? Maybe it comes as a surprise, but it’s important you take care of your finances.

Being on top of your finances is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Having a healthy relationship with money is huge. Being independent as a woman is a great gift you can give to yourself. It will give you a sense of peace, power, and confidence. Whether you simply invest more time into managing your family’s income or work on diversifying your income, taking charge of your finances will positively affect other areas of your life.

The desire of gold is not for gold. It is for the means of freedom and benefit.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

#9 Invest in your business/side hustle

If you’re running or trying to establish a business, invest in it. More often than not, it takes money to make money.
Way too often, we as women feel like we don’t have it in us to create something big, profitable, and valuable. Or we think we do, yet we still don’t take enough risks and undervalue ourselves.
What’s even more often the case is that we think we can and should do it all ourselves.

Invest in classes, courses, or hiring experts to help you take your entrepreneurial endeavors to the next level.

#10 Commit to basic yet life-changing daily habits

Self-discipline is self-love. You are worthy of love, effort, and nourishment. This point in a way combines all of the above.

There are things you will do every now and then to take your life to the next level, but there are also things definitely worth doing daily. A lot of time it’s the small changes that make the biggest difference. Make sure to commit to daily habits that will nourish your body, mind, and your soul.

Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most. -Abraham Lincoln

And once you understand that habits can change, you have the freedom and the responsibility to remake them. -Charles Duhigg

#11 Travel

self care

You can learn and grow so much by traveling. You can also have a lot of fun! Whether it’s with a friend, partner, your family or solo, it’s always worth investing in exploring new places. It’s those lessons and memories that will last for a lifetime.

You can treat yourself to a special retreat, workshop, or event you always wanted to attend or take a language course abroad. There are many options to get the most out of your trip.
A weekend getaway to recharge is also very valuable and can do wonders for your mental health if you’re currently overwhelmed with work, whether at a day job or as a stay-at-home mom.

With age, comes wisdom. With travel, comes understanding.” – Sandra Lake

As you can see, investing in yourself basically means putting in the time, the energy, and/or the money to do something that will elevate your life, no matter how simple and basic it may seem. But don’t talk yourself out of big plans, big ideas, big investments in yourself either. When something will have a positive impact on your mind, your physical health, your inner peace, when your gut is telling you to do something, it’s always worth investing in that.

Time to level up!
